SF Balloons

SF Symbols in every app

SF Balloons brings SF Symbols to every app. A keyboard shortcut opens a floating window on top of whatever is on your screen. Search in your own language, pick, Enter. The symbol is on your clipboard and you keep working without switching apps. As natural as the macOS emoji picker.

Search in your own language

Type what the symbol means to you. SF Balloons searches in nine languages and follows the language of your Mac, so “Zahnrad”, “engrenage” and “歯車” all lead to gear. The search finds terms that aren't part of the symbol name at all, and a typo still lands on the right symbol.

Every format you need

Enter copies the real symbol character, which shows up as a symbol in Keynote, Pages or Notes. Hold ⇧ and you get the symbol name for Xcode. A right-click adds SwiftUI code and export as PNG or PDF at any size. Symbols can be previewed as they animate, in Monochrome, Hierarchical or Multicolor, and symbols with usage restrictions carry a note.

Works over all apps

Open it with a shortcut of your choice, ⌥⌘S by default, over whatever app you are in. Every symbol from Apple's SF Symbols app is there, in the same categories, with recents and favorites at hand and everything reachable from the keyboard. SF Balloons is a lightweight menu bar app; the Dock and menu bar icons can each be switched off.

Free and private

SF Balloons is free, with an optional tip if you like it. It works completely offline. No account, no data collected or transmitted.
